INDUSTRY

Fintech

Designing a stock investment application tailored for Nigerian users to simplify stock trading, promote financial literacy, and increase investment accessibility for beginners and seasoned investors alike.

Problem Statement

Due to various obstacles, the New York Stock Exchange and Saudi Tadawul are only accessible to wealthy individuals. Firstly, investment banks charge high commissions, ranging from $5 to $500 per trade, depending on the trade volume. Secondly, the lack of user-friendly and interactive application interfaces further restricts the accessibility of investing. Finally, the absence of real-time data feeds and algorithmic trading systems adds another layer of difficulty for potential investors.

Our Solution

To provide a state-of-the-art investment app solution to make investing simple, affordable, and easy. With three easy steps, investors can start investing in the NYSE and Tadawul.

2

We also create an interactive interface where people can invest based on their beliefs and causes they support, e.g., investing in a company that supports global warming, investing in halal businesses, and so on.

Provide comprehensive learning support to new investors and various tools to assist professional traders in trading effectively.

3

The Goals

Simplify investment: Provide an intuitive interface for easy stock trading.

Educate users: Offer tools and content to promote financial literacy.

Local relevance: Address the unique challenges of Nigerian users, such as limited financial literacy, Naira currency volatility, and mobile-first behavior.

Build trust: Ensure security and transparency in every transaction.

Insights:

Many users prefer apps with low data usage due to internet costs.

Trust is a critical issue; users need transparent transaction histories.

Reflection

This was a very important project for me, and I am thrilled to have worked on it. I learnt a lot more about stock exchange, branding FinTech application requires in-depth knowledge of how cash flows based on time and exchange rates, and some understand of investments. I am looking forward to the release of the app.
